Kitchen Fire Suppression System

Kitchen Fire Suppression System Live Demonstration

Fire Armour is equipped with the expertise to recommend and install the WCK fire suppression system for kitchen hood. We do not outsource the installation to third parties and do everything inhouse. As a result, you can expect major cost savings while having a superior fire suppression system for kitchen hood.

In Singapore, kitchen fires are amongst the top cause of fires in both residential and commercial properties. Shockingly, there are many examples of food and beverage outlets not having fire suppression system for kitchens such as the Tampines coffeeshop fire Particularly, this example caused a downtime of 5 months. Yet, all of it could have been avoid if the coffeeshop owner were to install an automatic fire suppression system for kitchen hoods.

Singapore Fire Suppression System for kitchen hood requirements

Following SCDF fire code, 7.1.13 Exhaust system for kitchen

(b)(2)(e) The exhaust hood shall be fitted with a wet chemical fire extinguishing system.

Our WCK automatic fire detection and suppression system caters for the needs of both small and large kitchens—from small businesses to large commercial and industrial kitchens such as those in hotels, restaurants, and public institutions. Custom designing, modelling, testing, and manufacturing of fire suppression systems to meet customers' diverse requirements all under one roof.

What size of fire suppression system do you need?

Incredibly, the WCK systems allow for maximum flexibility depending on your requirements. To illustrate, we can use the smallest 6 Liters cylinder that allows up to 5 flow points to unlimited flow points if cylinders were to be combined. Generally, with your building plans, we can calculate the most cost efficient solution for your needs. It is also possible to combine cylinders to achieve unlimited flow points.

How does a fire suppression for kitchen system hood work?

The WCK system can work in two methods - Automatic and Manual.

In automatic mode, the WCK system can detect a fire using a mechanical method. The fusible links that are installed in the kitchen hood will melt upon reaching a specific temperature. Immediately, this loosens the tension and automatically triggers the fire suppression system for the hood.

In manual mode, a kitchen operator can pull the manual pull to immediately activate the fire suppression system.

Once the system is activated, in both automatic or manual mode, the fire fighting agent in the pressurized cylinder will immediately discharge through the nozzles an extinguish the kitchen fires.

How does this fire suppression system for kitchen hood work with the mechanical ventilation (MV) fan control?

During installation, the fire suppression system for kitchen hood is interlocked with the mechanical ventilation fan control (MV fan control). During the Registered Inspector RI Inspection, a fire is simulated to check if the gas and/or electricity source is cut off upon activation. This will ensure that the fire suppression system for kitchen hood works as intended - When a fire breaks out, the system will immediately cut off the relevant gas and/or electricity sources.

What agent does the fire suppression system for kitchen hood use?

The fire fighting agent, liquid potassium phosphate, is used to extinguish grease and cooking oil fires. On contact with the oil, the liquid turns into foam. Effectively, the foam creates a liquid barrier, preventing oxygen from reaching the fire and breaking the fire chemical reaction. The foam itself also cools the burning fire, bringing it down below reignition temperatures.

During discharge, the system distributes the extinguishing agent over all protected areas. This fire fighting agent is safe to use and does not affect the kitchen stainless steel working surfaces. Basically, after a fire, the kitchen can be quickly cleaned up, returned to operational status and greatly reducing revenue loss to a minimal.

WCK Systems is offered in various sizes – 6L, 9L, 16L, 20L and 26L with chaining capability - unlimited flow points.
